Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Midseason Report Card: Best Songs, Nuttiest Moments & More!

$

0
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is an incredibly fun and cleverly written musical comedy in its freshman season over on The CW.

Critics immediately hailed this show as their new darling, and Rachel Bloom has been nominated for a Golden Globe and a Critic’s Choice Award for her starring role as Rebecca Bunch.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend isn’t afraid to tackle any taboo topic from mental illness to feminism to drug usage to extra-marital affairs…even hooking up with a random hipster with a man bun. They're also taking back the term, "crazy" and humanizing it by portraying a smart and successful woman who isn't totally socially aware, but is aware enough to know that her head isn't completely right.

If you’ve never checked out the show, there’s plenty of time to watch Crazy Ex-Grilfriend online before it returns on January 25 at 8/7c.

Here’s are some of the mid-season highlights of what we’ve seen so far in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 1!

1. Best Theme Song Revival

Best theme song revival
Theme songs seem to have really fallen by the wayside on television nowadays, but Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has brilliantly brought them back into style with a fun animated description of the show and a little reminder that “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is a totally sexist term.

2. Best Guest Star - Dr. Phil

Best guest star dr phil
Having Dr. Phil on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend seemed to make a lot of sense, but it was the way in which they used him that we really loved. Dr. Phil guided Rebecca through her depression, offering her REAL advice that she needed to hear, and even stayed with her through her Alice in Wonderland inspired mystery pill haze. After the Dr. Phil in her head finally helped her see that she needed real therapy, the REAL Dr. Phil sent her right back to square one when he mistook Becks and Josh Chan for a couple at the Boba Tea stand. Way to go Dr. Phil.

3. Rebecca's Craziest Moment

Rebeccas craziest moment
Rebecca wanted to be BFF’s with Valencia. She took her yoga class, she helped her find a place to open her own studio, and they bonded over a nice bottle of wine. That all went REALLY well, but it wouldn’t stay that way for long. Becks dialed up the intensity when she decided to buy a matching dress as Valencia and kissed her on the dance floor of the club Spider’s. (Yes, there was a Mr. Spider at the end, so it was the correct usage.)

4. Character Who NEEDS More Screen Time - Darryl Whitefeather

Character who needs more screen time darryl whitefeather
Darryl Whitefeather is a 1/8 Chippewa, a guy who loves Luna bars, and a loving dad (but not in a creepy way.) His one-liners are so well placed and his pop-up appearances always leave us laughing out loud, so why haven’t we seen more of him? Can Becks spend a little more time at work Facebook stalking Josh Chan so that we get more face time with Darryl?

5. Most Emotional Music Moment

Most emotional music moment
When Greg sat down at the piano and started to sing, we expected a “Piano Man,” type of number. What we didn’t expect was how emotional the lyrics to “What’ll It Be?” would be. Greg sang his heart out about being stuck in West Covina and how it feels to serve food and drinks to the kids you went to high school with as your dreams pass you by. It resonated deeply with viewers because it really hit home for many.

6. Moment That Made Us All Shout, "WHY?!"

Moment that made us all shout why
Rebecca and Greg were having a lovely taco date. Rebecca was finally making healthy choices. She had a nice porta-potty revelation that led her to decide that Greg was pretty great. She also got really scared and ended up hooking up with hipster guacamole guy. We all yelled, “WHY?!” collectively. At least she made him wear two condoms.

The Big Bang Theory Report Card: Grade It So Far!

$

It's true. The Big Bang Theory Season 9 had a bit of a rocky start.

There was fighting and heartbreak, and at least one character who drove us totally nuts. However, there was also one of the best episodes the show has ever had, which also brought us a surprisingly romantic moment.

Check out our mid-season report card to see how this season has fared so far!

1. Best Episode

Amy sure looks happy the big bang theory s9e11
The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 11 was without a doubt the best episode of the season so far. "The Opening Night Excitation" gave us a moment we'd been waiting for but never knew if it would actually come – Sheldon and Amy spent the night together for the first time. It was handled perfectly, and for a funny twist, it was paralleled with the rest of the guys seeing the new Star Wars movie.

2. Worst Episode

Penny doesnt look pleased the big bang theory s9e2
This season had a rocky start, particularly with The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 2. It took a negative tone as most characters were either angry or sad, and the fight between Leonard and Penny felt like a waste of time.

3. Funniest Sheldon Quote

Best sheldon quote
The best quote of the season so far comes from the best episode of the season, The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 11, when Sheldon decides that for Amy's birthday, he'll have coitus with her. "Then it's settled. Amy's birthday present will be my genitals."

4. Best Tribute

Best tribute
The death of cultural icon Leonard Nimoy was something that The Big Bang Theory needed to address, but it waited a bit before it did so. On The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 7, the show gave tribute to Leonard Nimoy by having his son on the show to do a "documentary" with one of Mr. Spock's biggest fans: Sheldon. This was also the episode when Sheldon's friends learned of his plans to propose to Amy.

5. Character We Could Do Without

Character we could do without
Stuart used to be a funny addition to the cast, but he's gone from quirky and comical to downright creepy, particularly in The Big Bang Theory Season 9. So many of the things he says and does are simple more uncomfortable than they are funny.

6. Favorite Guest Star

Favorite guest star
Bob Newhart as Professor Proton is always fabulous on The Big Bang Theory. He appears to Sheldon in a dream to offer some important advice on The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 11, dressed, of course, as a Jedi.

Arrow at Midseason: Most Shocking Moment, Biggest Let Down & More!

With nine episodes behind us, we're taking a look at Arrow Season 4 so far.

While we're calling it a midseason checkup, we're hardly halfway there, as we still have 14 full and ambitious hours to go.

What have we seen? A whole heck of a lot.

There have been incredible guest stars, shocking moments, a paternity reveal, deaths of everyone, terrible violence at the hands of a new, heinous villain and much more.

Scroll through our breakdown and let us know your thoughts while we wait for Arrow's return on Wednesday, January 20th.

If you're aching for more before then, you can watch Arrow online to relive every moment.

1. Most Compelling Overarching Season Mystery

Most compelling overarching season mystery
Setting up the who's in the grave mystery was rather brilliant, even if it is annoying as all get out. Annoying from a fan perspective to learn the writers apparently didn't have an end game in mind at the time they filmed the scene shown in the gif. Shouldn't they know that before writing such a scene? It also sets up fan groups to mutilate each other with the hope they will reign supreme and their favorite character will not make it into the grave. On the positive side, it has given fans something to analyze and discuss all season long. If done well, that can be a lot of fun.

2. Best Guest Star

Best guest star
There's no doubt at all that the best guest star comes courtesy of Matt Ryan as John Constantine on Arrow Season 4 Episode 5, "Haunted." While it wasn't the best story or even the best integration of a guest star, using him to bring Sara's body and soul back together was a great way to honor Constantine fans and do the cancellation of that show justice. Matt Ryan never disappoints, and he proved once again he has chemistry with everyone. Bringing him as Constantine and/or the show back full time in some way or form would be justified.

3. Most Heinous Villain

Most heinous villain
Damian Darhk is mystical, powerful, sometimes compassionate, a shockingly good conversationalist, ridiculously witty, distrubingly heinous and full of surprises. Whether he's using a simple hand gesture to toss a man across a room or stunning someone with a one liner, he never stops being entertaining. He doesn't pull any punches, and if he says he's going to come for you, look out, he's right behind you or, worse yet, already in front of you. And you never know what's next. A family? Did any of us see that coming? Here's hoping he keeps rolling for a long time.

4. Biggest Let Down

Biggest let down
We admit it. We like girl power, and the thought of two Canaries and Speedy fighting together got us a little excited. The preview was awfully exciting, but the end result was anything but memorable. How could we know Sara and Canary would both be suffering from blood lust? Oh well. At least we still have this cool looking gif.

5. Most Unnecessary Story Change

Most unnecessary story change
Oliver has a son. We learned that while Moira was still alive, and always thought it would be Connor Hawke, the boy who one day follows in his father's footsteps. Instead, it's a boy named William who Oliver had with a woman named Samantha Clayton. As this boy is not Connor, now we wonder if he and his mother have been brought in strictly as a plot device for the Olicity relationship to survive or to help Oliver grow in some way. Honestly, does anybody think Arrow will be around long enough to offer up a second son, one that will take over for Oliver? They should have just waited and introduced Connor Hawke.

6. Most Dramatic Scene

Most dramatic scene
Oliver and Quentin Lance finally having their moment on Arrow Season 4 Episode 4, "Beyond Redemption," airing their grievances and expressing their contempt, disguest and begrudging respect for one another was beautiful. Stephen Amell gave one of his best, if not the best performances of his tenure on Arrow. If you don't believe us, go back and watch again.

The Flash at Midseason: Worst New Character, Most Welcome Return & More!

$

0

Have you been enjoying The Flash Season 2 so far?

We're taking a look at some of the bigger moments to see where we are at midseason.

It's been very enjoyable, and we're expecting the biggest material is still to come.

If you need to catch up before the series' return, you can watch The Flash online any time!

1. Most Surprisingly Touching Moment

Most surprisingly touching moment
The Flash Season 2 Episode 1 was full of surprises, but one of the greatest was learning Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne left to Barry Allen STAR Labs AND confessed to murdering his mother so that Barry could have everything he thought would make him happy. It's just like Wells to do something so confusing, so that even in death we are left wondering if he's evil incarnate or just misunderstood. It kinda made us miss him all the more.

2. Character Acting Most Out of Charcter

Character acting most out of charcter
When Henry Allen got released from prison, we expected him to want to get to know his son. Instead he hung up a "gone fishin'" sign and left Central City so his boy could be The Flash instead of Henry Allen's son. We cry foul on that, especially since we later learned Henry didn't even take a moment to catch up on family photos and take some along for the trip. It seemed really out of character for one of the best dads on TV.

3. Best New Character

Best new character
Having two Flashes was already going to be a lot of fun, but Jay Garrick is actually a really great guy. He has personal insight on both Zoom and Harry Wells, as well as Earth 2, and he's providing valuable insight for Barry about being a Flash.

4. Worst New Character

Worst new character
Sorry, Barry, we know you have fallen for Patty Spivot, but some of us just...haven't. It would be far more interesting for us to get to know Iris better and follow her work at the Central City Picture News than it is suffering through another police officer's antics and artificial love story with you. She gets away with far more than any character of her ilk should.

5. Best Family Dynamics

Best family dynamics
Without a doubt, it's the West family. There were many opportunities for miscommuntion (or lack of communication) to become betwween the members of this family, but instead they listened, forgave and grew closer as a result of the trauma they experienced. If only every family on TV could be as well adjusted as the Wests. Joe is the patriarch after which all patriarchs should be modeled.

6. Most Ridiculous Use of Super Speed

Most ridiculous use of super speed
You gotta admit that Barry drawing the photo of Vandal Savage was ridiculous, but it was also adorable. That Barry can do pretty much anything with his speed in record time makes The Flash light and cheerful, even when the chips are waaaay down.

Criminal Minds Report Card: Most Paranoia-Inducing Episode & More!

$
0
0

On Criminal Minds Season 11 brought about a fair amount of change to the BAU family.

We lost Derek Morgan when he retired from the BAU. Morgan was a fan favorite (not to mention Garcia's as well!)

We also gained a new member in Dr. Tara Lewis. As a rare car aficionado, she has a lot in common with Rossi.

JJ made a late start in the season due to the birth of her latest son Michael.

The season itself got off to a rocky start because of some of these changes, but then evened out. This was the result of some good writing.

Let's now take a look at the overall season, and make note of some of the more remarkable episodes.

Don't forget to watch Criminal Minds online to relive it all!

1. Best Episode

Best episode
The award goes to the last story of the season, in Criminal Mind Season 11 Episode 22. It was compelling from minute one to the end. We got to see Antonia again; we worried that Hotch may have had a psychotic break. Mr. Scratch made an appearance, and we got to see JJ get all Mama Bear at Antonia. The icing on the cake was watching the FBI unload their guns at a helicopter until it finally blew up and crashed to the ground.

2. Worst Episode

Worst episode
The candidate for the worst of the season is Criminal Minds Season 11 Episode 1. The case itself was interesting: it involved an assassin who injected his victims with a slow-acting nutritional supplement designed to cause a heart attack. Not so interesting was the lack of team dynamic within the BAU. JJ’s absence was keenly felt, and the usual team bonding just wasn’t there. This is also the same episode that introduced us to Dr. Tara Lewis.

3. Most Heartbreaking Episode

Most heartbreaking episode
Many of us were shocked and saddened when Morgan just up and quit the BAU on Criminal Minds Season 11 Episode 18. The story arc that brought him there made perfect sense though: he had been captured and tortured, and then Savannah had been shot - while pregnant with their son. He simply didn't want to put his new family into harm's way anymore. That hug between Morgan and Reid just broke our hearts didn't it?

4. Best Villain

Best villain
The honor goes to Antonia Slade, who we first met in Criminal Minds Season 11 Episode 21. Antonia, played by Frances Fisher, fairly dripped with contempt for all those who she felt were beneath her. She may have been a genuine misandrist too, as she reserved the bulk of her hatred for the men in the BAU, especially Hotch.

5. Most Nerve-Wracking Episode

Most nerve wracking episode
Derek’s capture and torture on Criminal Minds Season 11 Episode 16 was the most intense episode of the season. Watching one of our favorite characters applying his training to mentally disassociate from what the bad guys put him through put us on the edge of our seats. Honourable mention has to go to Danny Glover for his portrayal of Derek’s long-dead father, who helped him think everything through.

6. Most Wild West Episode

Most wild west episode
That honor goes to the Unsubs of Criminal Minds Season 11 Episode 4. The story had it all the elements, including bad guys on motorcycles, one of whom shot up a pharmacy in search of drugs. And best of all, the end involved a wild west shootout between the bad guys and the BAU. As usual, of course, the BAU remained standing.

NCIS Season 13 Report Card: Best Episode, Human Scum Award & More!

Tony left NCIS  (and us); Gibbs got a new haircut, as well as a new mental health therapist; Abby took down a gang of criminals and Ducky used three suspects to perform an autopsy for him.

A lot happened on NCIS Season 13, and we're here now to break it down and examine some of the more outstanding episodes of the year.

No matter which way you look at it, NCIS will never be the same.

Check out our slideshow and then give us your grade for the year.

1. Best Episode

Best episode
The very first episode of the season qualifies. It featured Gibbs going under the capable knife of Dr. Taft after being shot at the end of Season 12. We got to see Tony truly shine when he confronted Daniel Budd. He brooked no nonsense and went so far as to shoot him in the knee in order to get some answers. This was brutally serious agent we've always known him to be, utterly protective of those he loves, and full of anger at the violence done to Gibbs.

2. Most Heartbreaking Episode

Heartbreaker episode
This is the one we've both been looking for, and dreaded all season. The one where Tony leaves. This episode not only signaled his retirement from NCIS, but also served to kill Ziva (and the Tiva dynamic) for good. It also introduced us to the one compelling impetus that could *ever* make him want to give up being an NCIS agent: the daughter he never knew he had. Tali was Ziva's last gem in his life, the only one who changed everything for him. As he put it: "I've never been anybody's everything before."

3. Worst Episode

Worst episode
This dubious honor goes to NCIS Season 13 Episode 13, for it's yawn-inducing predictable plot. The case, involving a human trafficking ring, introduced us to the bad guy right at the start - and we knew he was bad. Everything went downhill from there, and included a ridiculous subplot featuring Bishop writing a letter to the President. As episodes go, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't up to the higher standards of writing we've grown to expect from this great series.

4. Human Scum Award

Human scum award
This one goes to Jake who not only cheated on Bishop, but made her believe his absences were work related. Here she was, worried about him getting blown up in an explosion, only to find out the only reason he wasn't, was that he was on his way to see his girlfriend. It came as a shock to Ellie (and to us!). It's been a long time since we were that disgusted with a cast member. This all happened on NCIS Season 13 Episode 9.

5. Most Heartwarming Episode

Most heartwarming episode
The nod for this one goes to NCIS Season 13 Episode 11, where we got to meet Ducky's brother Nicholas. For much of the episode we were sure Nicholas had died long ago, only to be surprised at discovering he was living in an assisted care centre, due to his Alzheimer's condition. The moment that brought tears to our eyes was the head scritch and nose boop between the brothers - the one routine that brought a smile of recognition to Nicholas' face.

6. Awkward Reconcilation Award

Awkward reconcilation award
On NCIS Season 13 Episode 8, Tony's old flame Jeanne Benoit showed up, with hubby in tow. Clearly there were some raw feelings still going on between them. You got the sense Tony was very relieved when their plane landed and he was able to walk away from her.

13 Awe-Inspiring Reasons Bates Motel Season 4 Scores an A

$

0

Trying to pick the special moments from an incredible season is not as easy as it seems.

Before realizing things had gotten away from me, I had to stop and whittle it down from 31 categories. The proposal through the wedding and the reactions from family and friends alone could spawn several categories.

Norman's time in Pineview was a goldmine. From Normero to encounters with Chick to Dylemma and so much more, the season was impressive on a grand scale.

The bottom line is Bates Motel Season 4 scored an A in the TV Fanatic Report Card. Now, let's take a look at some specifics from the season!

1. Most Suspenseful Episode

Most suspenseful episode
Bates Motel Season 4 Episode 2, "Goodnight, Mother," was brilliant! Watching Norma fear Norman as he considered taking both of them out because they didn't belong on this earth, was far more dramatic than the actual event. She was running from him, flirting with him to get him to stand down and hiding in the attic, calling Alex Romero to say goodbye. It was shocking she made it out alive. But given what we know now, you have to wonder if Norman could have killed her in anger or if it was always going to be done out of love.

2. Best Norma/Norman Episode

Best norma slash norman episode
Bates Motel Season 4 Episode 6, "The Vault," had everything we could have ever wanted for Norma. It was her happy ending. She stood up to Chick and discovered he had respect for her. She shared all of her secrets with Alex and discovered he had a love deeper for her than she could ever imagine. At Pineview, Norman recounted his desperate days as a young boy when he and mother lived terrified of his father. We learned how he became so incredibly damaged, from Mother, who appeared to Dr. Edwards. It was incredible stuff, and the calm before the storm.

3. Best Female Performance

Best female performance
Alright. This is a cheat category, but how else to praise, once again, Vera Farmiga for all she did this season as Norma and Mother? Especially since Norma had a chance to grow beyond Norman for the first time with him away in Pineview. She got her sea legs and found herself for just a while. It was beautiful! It was also the last we'll see of Norma Bates as we knew her. Farmiga has to let go of the woman she became and start with only what Norman wants the character to be, so always a challenge. No doubt she'll be up for it.

4. Weirdest Marriage

Weirdest marriage
From the proposal to the wedding to moving in, nothing about Norma and Alex marrying was normal. But the love they fell into head first sure was as normal as it gets. The two of them wouldn't have gone about marrying any other way, would they?

5. Best Male Performance

Best male performance
Freddie Highmore scores the win! He was given the most difficult material, of course, as he's the man in this scenario. But he had a tough dual with Nestor Carbonell this season. They had some great scenes together and with Vera Farmiga. They shared the stage and will continue sharing it into Season 5. Norman's roundup of insanity, self-pity and humor really played well to the crowd, though, and Highmore carried it out beautifully, as always!

6. Most Welcome Development

Most welcome development
Norma and Alex falling head over heels in love before she died was very welcome indeed. She got to feel real love before she kicked the bucket, even if she didn't quite have the confidence to pull it off. If Norman hadn't interfered, Alex would have pulled her up and given her the support she needed to move forward. There just wasn't enough time. But, for a while? Just look at that smile. Norma was happy.

Chicago Fire Season 4 Report Card: Best New Character, Most Uplifting Moment & More!

$

0

By the end of Chicago Fire Season 4, Dawson became a foster parent, Casey became an alderman, Herrmann survived a stabbing, and Otis had his own medical scare.

Two different characters suffered the loss of a sibling, and handled it VERY differently.

We have yet another in house romance blossoming, and as usual, we were left with a serious cliffhanger.

So, let's take a look back with our Chicago Fire Season 4 Report Card!

Check out our picks and be sure to let us know if you agree!

1. Best Episode

Best episode
We're giving this one to Chicago Fire Season 4 Episode 18. It was easily one of the most action packed episodes of the season, complete with Brett's life in danger, Casey's first vote, and of course, Platt and Mouch's wedding! While we do wish we could have heard their vows, the dual freak outs were hilarious, and we're just happy they made it down the aisle.

2. Worst Episode

Worst episode
Chicago Fire Season 4 Episode 14 wasn't horrible or anything, but it was disappointing. After the hype surrounding the Battle of the Badges, it was over in a matter of seconds. The drawn out Chili story line finally reached an end at least, but by this point, we were way past caring what happened to her.

3. Best New Character

Best new character
This was tough, because we love Kidd too, but we've had more time to get to know Jimmy. He's kind hearted, hard working, and fit in with the team almost immediately. He took his demotion from candidate to paramedic with class, and took it upon himself to help a woman keep her dignity, despite nearly getting in trouble for it. Plus, he managed to overcome a really embarassing first day, so we have to give him credit for that!

4. Most Uplifting Moment

Most uplifting moment
Victor was determined to walk to his high school graduation on Chicago Fire Season 4 Episode 19, despite the risk he may be hurt. Casey couldn't let anything happen to him, so he decided to walk with him. The scene turned into so much more than that though when the camera revealed the entire firehouse and police department lining the streets for him. Truly an uplifting sight!

5. Unexpected Character Development

Unexpected character development
When this season started, who would have guessed that Casey would run for a political office? He got off to a rocky start, but it really didn't take long for him to find his footing. His political consultant is already talking about him running for state senate! How far will this story line go?

6. Cutest Addition to the Family

Cutest addition to the family
After suffering a miscarriage earlier in the season, we were so happy for Dawson when she was approved to foster Louie. More than that though, we're just super excited that this adorable child will be back on our TV screens next season! Just look at that face!

Castle Season 8: Happiest Moment, Worst Plot Twist & More!

$
0
0

It was the final season of Castle.

Under normal circumstances, that alone would evoke a certain amount of sorrow, but it was the very existence of Castle Season 8 that caused us misery.

From the first installment, Castle Season 8 Episode 1, all the way through to the series finale, Castle Season 8 Episode 22, it was obvious that the very heart of the show had been altered.

A show that had once made Mondays the happiest day of the week had taken a fatal turn in the hands of new show runners who never seemed to understand why fans tuned in.

Still, we’ve decided to take a look back and see where the magic was lost, if it ever sparked back to life, and what grade Castle Season 8 deserves.

If you're already missing the best of the series, you can always watch Castle online here at TV Fanatic and check out our 29 Most Memorable Caskett Moments now.

1. We Knew Something Was Off…

Congratulatory cupcake castle s8e1
Right from the very beginning, I knew something was off with Season 8. I normally get my Castle premiere screener and watch it the first time just for pure pleasure. Then I watch a second time and take notes for my review. (I may have been known to watch it a third time before the live airing, just for fun.)

But I knew something was off when I had little desire to rewatch “XY” even a second time. The show had a darker tone and more violence than was the norm on Castle. Worst of all, even the Caskett scenes lacked that spark I'd always loved.

I'd hoped it was a fluke and that the new show runners simply needed time to find their footing. Boy, was I wrong!

2. Worst Plot Twist...

Becketts mysterious disappearance castle
This one is easy. Castle Season 8 Episode 2 had Beckett walking out on her marriage in order to protect her husband as she attempted to stop LokSat. What could be worse? Castle let her go without a fight! All I could think was, What the hell!

Kate Beckett fought her inner demons in order to be a better, healthier person and have a happy relationship. Now some mysterious conspiracy had Beckett throwing that away?

Rick Castle fought for their relationship for years, but he let her walk out the door with virtually no explanation. It didn't make sense from the start and was the beginning of the end for the show.

3. Best Episode...

Best episode
Castle Season 8 Episode 10 was the first installment of the season that I can honestly say I enjoyed from beginning to end. “Witness For the Prosecution” provided a new twist and the old Castle magic that we always loved.

Caleb Brown cross examining Rick Castle on the stand was one of the best scenes of the season. And in a season where there was little emotion felt between Castle and Beckett, it was satisfying to see how affected Kate was watching that cross examination and not being able to stop it.

Perhaps even better was seeing our fabulous foursome (Castle, Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan) once again working a case over Chinese food at the precinct. We were even reminded that Rick Castle is a best selling author! There was lots to smile about in 8x10. I might even watch this episode again.

4. Worst Episode...

Worst episode
There are just too many to choose from for this category, but we're going to go with Castle Season 8 Episode 3. “PhDead” was the first regular episode after the two-parter, and it was a huge let down.

It had many things we never thought we'd see: Caskett separated, Castle being fine with Alexis parading around like a Victoria's Secret model in front of a bunch of frat boys, Lanie telling Castle that being abducted and kept from his loved ones for two months was the same as Beckett walking out on their marriage.

Castle was partnered with Alexis. Beckett was partnered with Vikram, and Happy Castle Mondays suddenly needed a Castle Depression Rescue Kit.

5. Happiest Moment...

The team meets at the hospital castle
The birth of Nicholas Javier Ryan – Castle has always been at its best when Castle, Beckett, Esposito, Ryan, and Lanie band together, and the best thing about Castle Season 8 Episode 17 was watching this team rallying around Ryan as they awaited news about Jenny and their new baby.

Even better, Ryan and Jenny named the baby Nicholas Javier Ryan, a nod to Ryan's desire to name his child Javier in “Under Fire.” The moment was like a giant group hug for our favorite characters and their fans.

6. Most Horrendous Lie...

The separation secret castle
Castle Season 8 Episode 9 had our favorite couple lying about cheating on one another. As if the Caskett separation wasn't bad enough, their secret reconciliation and desire to keep it hidden from their friends and family made it all the worse.

Rick Castle was cheated on by his first wife. It ended their marriage and left him to raise his daughter alone. But in “Tone Death,” we were supposed to believe that Castle was fine letting his closest friends believe he'd cheated on the love of his life? I didn't find that funny; it actually made me cringe.

Even worse was that Beckett had no problem allowing her husband's reputation to be trashed. Beckett was always a character with such integrity. How was it okay to let the world believe that the husband who adored her was off screwing some Russian model on the side? The writers claimed they wanted to add some fun into the story by having Caskett sneak around to be together, but nothing about this was fun. It only made us sad and angry.

The Vampire Diaries Season 7: Best Couple, Worst Episode and More!

We're running down the best and worst of The Vampire Diaries Season 7, and with this being the first season since the departure of Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert, we have a lot of thoughts.

The Heretics no doubt breathed some new life into the show, but by the end of the season they were pretty much extinct. What's up with that?

The conclusion of the season actually left us with more questions than answers, so things seem pretty exciting going into The Vampire Diaries Season 8.

Without further ado, here's our full rundown of the best and worst of the past 22 hours of The Vampire Diaries!

1. Most Surprising Plot Development

Most surprising plot development
Kat Graham killed it this season as Bonnie Bennett, but we didn't expect little Bonbon to go after her friends. Yes, in a crazy turn of events she became the huntress and went after her vampire pals!

2. Favorite Heretic

Valerie was such a breath of fresh air. She was poised to become the new bitch on the show when it was revealed that she was totally into Stefan Salvatore, but she actually turned into one of the best characters on the show.

3. Worst Storyline

Worst storyline
Anything do with the Armory. That whole storyline just felt so forced that we couldn't bear to pay any attention to it. It sucks that it's being dragged kicking and screaming into Season 8.

4. Most Heartbreaking Death

Most heartbreaking death
Lily Salvatore was such a great character. She had so many layers and we miss her dearly. Just as she was getting somewhere with her kids, she died saving their lives and it turned out it was all for nothing.

5. Most Pointless Character

Most pointless character
We never thought it would be possible for someone to be more useless than Matt Donovan, but then Julie Plec threw Mary Louise into the mix.

6. Best Episode

The second episode of the season was vintage Vampire Diaries. It had Caroline all tied up after trying to take out the Heretics. The Heretics kept playing magic tricks on her to piss her off. It was great!

The 100 Season 3 Report Card: Best First Kiss, Worst New Character, Season MVP, and more!

A season that started off strong, quickly got shaky, and then pulled it all together in the end: that's what The 100 Season 3 was.

The show notoriously deals in complex themes, and clearly the showrunners had plenty of lofty ideas in mind when they plotted out the course of this season. Unfortunately, there was simply not enough screentime to successfully pull it all off.

Despite all that, given the HUGE twist revealed by ALIE in the final moments of the season, we're really looking forward to The 100 Season 4.

In honor of the recent airing of The 100 Season 3 Finale, we're taking a look back at the season's best and worst episodes, best and worst new characters, best first kiss, and more!

Check out our picks below and be sure to weigh in by leaving us a comment with your thoughts.

1. Best Episode

Retaining control the 100 season 3 episode 16
This season wasn't the smoothest (what with the ludicrous Bellamy/Pike arc) but it managed to pull everything together in the end. "Perverse Instantiation - Part Two," the second part of the two-part finale, was an excellent, exciting, and emotional hour. It was filled with tension, drama, and much needed reunions. Best of all, the whole team worked together to help Clarke save everyone from ALIE.

2. Worst Episode

The hostage the 100 season 3 episode 10
There's just so much that was terrible about "Fallen." Bellamy finally deciding to turn on Pike was much needed, but that was about the only real highlight. In the aftermath of Lincoln's horrible death, Octavia viciously beat her brother and was fully prepared to turn him over to Pike. Ontari coerced sex out of Murphy -- an act of rape -- and the scene downplayed that fact VERY weirdly. Raven, under ALIE's control, cut her wrists, forcing Abby to take the chip and become an ALIE minion. And Clarke, our protagonist, was completely absent for all of this, save the last two minutes. It was the weakest of the season, by far.

3. Best New Character

Roan ready to fight the 100 season 3 episode 4
This was a tough one. In the end, Roan gets the Best New Character designation simply because we almost know Luna TOO well after her brief appearance. Roan, on the other hand, remains enigmatic. For that reason, he's the one new character we definitely need to see more of in season 4. Fingers crossed he's not dead!

4. Worst New Character

Chancellor pike the 100 season 3 episode 10
Ugh, Pike. His complete lack of nuance and his prejudice against all Grounders was aggravating and badly developed. As terrible as it will be to watch Octavia struggle with her actions, seeing her kill Pike was actually pretty cathartic -- despite the fact that Mike Beach totally brought his A game to this role.

5. Season 3 MVP

Raven gives side eye the 100 season 3 episode 1
Raven Reyes has endured some of the worst pain and trauma of anyone in the series. She lost Finn to Clarke (first figuratively, then literally). She was shot by Murphy and permanently disabled. She struggled with depression in the aftermath of her disability. Then, she was used by ALIE in terrible, demoralizing, and dangerous ways. Yet, Raven managed to come out the other side of it all, once again, fighting through ALIE's influence and eventually playing a key role in the AI's destruction during the finale. Raven Reyes, we love you.

6. Most Heartbreaking Death (TIE)

Lincoln looking serious the 100 season 3 episode 1
This one was too close to call. Lincoln was an amazing character, one established very near the beginning of the series. He'd been around the delinquents for a while and became one of their own in due course. To see him struggle all season with the prejudice that certain Sky People at Arkadia felt towards Grounders, only to then die at Pike's hand for that very reason, was too much. Gunshot to the head while kneeling in the mud? That was the worst.

Even though The Big Bang Theory Season 9 had a bit of a rough start, it turned out to be a season filled with pivotal and endearing moments.

Of course, it also gave us some moments that had us laughing out loud.

Check out our report card to see which moments were the best, which episode was the worst, which guest star was our favorite, and more!

1. Best Party

Best party
For The Big Bang Theory's 200th episode, "The Celebration Experimentation," Sheldon gets a special surprise birthday. It becomes a bit too much for him to handle at first, but once Penny gives him a pep talk, he's able to enjoy himself in a celebration that includes Bat Man himself.

2. Best Episode

The moment weve been waiting for the big bang theory s9e11
Hands down, the best episode of The Big Bang Theory this season was Season 9 Episode 11, "The Opening Night Excitation." Sheldon and Amy finally sleep together in an episode that balances humor and sweetness.

3. Favorite New Romance

These two seem to be getting along pretty well the big bang theo
Sheldon and Leonard aren't thrilled, but Penny really loves the idea of a romance between Leonard's dad and Sheldon's mom. I mean, come on, how could we not be excited about that?

4. Most Underutilized Character

Most underutilized character
For some reason, Leonard's story arcs haven't felt very significant lately, other than his marriage with Penny. If there's anything we'd like to see next season, it's something of more substance for Leonard.

5. Best Valentine's Day Celebration

Best valentines day celebration
The best way to celebrate Valentine's Day? To crash your friends' live Fun with Flags episode wearing cupid outfits and throwing confetti at the camera. Leonard will apparently wear anything. Hey, he's a good sport.

6. Best Surprise

Soon, we'll have a new addition to the Big Bang Theory gang! Howard and Bernadette learning that they have a baby on the way was another pivotal (and emotional) moment from The Big Bang Theory Season 9.

Chicago PD Season 3: Best Episode, Season MVP and More!

$

We started Chicago PD Season 3 with one character in trouble, and ended it with another one possibly in even more trouble!

Throughout the season, we dealt with Lindsay's addiction, Olinsky's family troubles, Voight's temper, and so much more!

There were crossovers with Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Law and Order SVU, as well as a backdoor pilot for the new series Chicago Justice.

Relive some of the best moments of the season with our report card, and then be sure to let us know your thoughts!

1. Best Episode

Best episode
Lindsay's personal demon, and one of the series' best villains to date, returned on Chicago PD Season 3 Episode 14. Yates, the man who killed Nadia bates Lindsay into playing his game, and, in the end, she wins by taking him down. The crossover with Law and Order SVU brought Benson back to Chicago, and we just love any chance to see her share the screen with Voight and Lindsay.

2. Worst Episode

Worst episode
Chicago PD Season 3 Episode 12 was predictable and a little boring. It was obvious to pretty much everyone that Eddie couldn't be trusted and would make a break for it with the money. Even Voight and Dawson saw it coming and stopped him before he could get away. To top it all off, this was the episode that Burgess officially broke up with Ruzek.

3. Season MVP

Season mvp
Platt is so much more than just her amazing sarcastic one-liners. This season we got to see her in the field a couple of times, with her strongest moment coming when she talked down a dirty cop on Chicago PD Season 3 Episode 13. She may give her cops a hard time, but in the end she always comes through for them.

4. Storyline That Left Us Hanging

Storyline that left us hanging
We spent a good amount of time on Olinsky's family life in the first part of the season, but then it was dropped, never to be heard from again. Did Olinsky ever make up with Meredith? Did he and Michelle ever move out of Ruzek's apartment? We may never know.

5. Best Unconventional Partnership

Best unconventional partnership
Sure, the Roman/Platt partnership gave us some laughs, but we loved the dynamic between Lindsay and Burgess when they teamed up for a case. Maybe now that Roman is gone, Burgess will get to spend more time with Intelligence and we'll have more opportunites to see these two work together.

6. Last Person We Want to See on a Dating App

Last person we want to see on a dating app
Remember when Roman revealed he was on a hook-up app? Yeah, we say no thank you. His one saving grace was helping the boy with cancer, but other than that Roman is a boring character who wasted no time making a move on Burgess after she broke up with Ruzek. We think the writers missed an opportunity by not having Roman be the victim of the catfisher.

13 Times The Flash Season 2 Failed to Meet Expectations

$

0

No, The Flash Season 2 did NOT suffer a sophomore slump.

It also didn't exceed expectations. We were still hoping for the same magic from The Flash Season 1 (a big ask, for sure), and it fell short.

That doesn't mean the season didn't provide good times, or that we're giving up because it was not enjoyable. Hardly. It's still a fine show with a wonderful cast of characters.

We only have great expectations because we've already seen what this group can do. And, yes, I'll agree that as someone who didn't read the comics, I may see things from a different angle. But this is a TV show. I should have to have read to the comics to get the most out of it.

Readers should get MORE, but those who didn't should still be having a great time.

So, let's dig in. Ready? Go!

1. A Great Earth that Isn't Our Earth

A great earth that isnt our earth
The introduction of Earth-2 (and then more universes) is just too much fun. As a huge fan of doppelgangers for the opportunities provided to open up the stories and let actors really show off their chops, this is a dream. I can only hope The Flash wants to visit as many worlds as possible, including Earth-3 with his new dad-alike, Jay Garrick, The Flash!

2. A Character Some of Us Loved to Hate

A character some of us loved to hate
Patty Spivot wasted time. She was a placeholder for Barry until he rediscovered his feelings for Iris, as it seems any new female love interest will be. Others may be tolerated, but Patty's attitude and desire to skirt the law to get justice for her father were incredibly annoying. Then she even tricked Barry into revealing his secret identity. Superheroes doen't need girls like her hanging about. Good riddance.

3. A Character We Grew to Love

A character we grew to love
Wally West came in with a big chip on his shoulder, and he was hardly ready to accept his new family. But he didn't have a choice. His mother was dying, and he had a father and sister he didn't know reaching out to offer support. Try as he might, he couldn't pust the loving pair away.

While he might have been a lot of trouble at the onset, the way he has embraced his new life and wants to help like they do, like his new brother, The Flash, does, is really admirable, especially for a kid who didn't have it all.

4. A Big Bummer That Ended OK

A big bummer that ended ok
When they introduced the first Flash, it was really freaking cool, even for those of us who haven't dug deeply into the comics. The hat, the look – it's been around. It was Jay Garrick! To screw with such a pivotal character, making him a cool guy and then a really bad guy was a bummer.

It was really easy to see why Caitlin fell for him. It all worked out in the end, with a Henry Allen doppelganger as the real Jay Garrick, but can we NOT introduce iconic characters in hiding, getting our hopes up, only to discover they're cads, murderers and real pieces of dirt? Let's let the next hero truly be a hero.

5. A Most Disappointing Trend

A most disappointing trend
Killing off doppelgangers is just not good. It's easy to understand not wanting them hanging around all the time because of logistical reasons and even so they don't steal the thunder from the main characters of The Flash.

But the list of dopps who have dropped is too long. Reverb, Killer Frost, Joe West, Laurel Lance (Earth-1), Henry Allen (Earth-1), TWO Ronnie Raymonds, and I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. It's possible for dopps to live on opps Earths and barely have contact until the storyline requires it. STOP DROPPING DOPPS.

6. The Season Started Off Strong - With the Best Episode!

The season started off strong with the best episode
The Flash Season 2 Episode 1, "The Man Who Saved Central City," when there were several men who could take the title, was a perfect start to Season 2. We discovered why Barry was fighting demons and having a hard time relishing being a hero, especially on Flash Day. Firestorm did the dirty work for saving the world and got no credit.

Caitlin was in mourning but some love from Barry saved her, too. We learned Wells left Barry STAR Labs, and admitted he killed Nora Allen. Henry was set free. This episode as much wrapped up Season 1 as it did propel us into Season 2. The Flash Season 3 has a lot to work up to!

Orphan Black Season 4: Funniest Clone, Best Reunion, Weirdest Twist and More!

Another amazing season of clone drama (and audiences wondering about Tatiana Maslany's well-deserved Emmy) has come to a close with the Orphan Black Season 4 Finale.

As a whole, Orphan Black Season 4 was pretty damn great. It was certainly an improvement over Orphan Black Season 3, which was a bit too Castor-clone-filled for my tastes. There were plenty of wonderful performances, heartbreaking moments, killer twists, and satisfying reunions – all the makings of spectacular drama.

While we're sad to have learned that next season will be the show's last hurrah, the finale set up plenty to look forward to. A new villain, in the form of P. T. Westmoreland, Cophine goodness, and Sarah needing to rescue her family (yet again) are all on the horizon.

But before we move on to anticipating and speculating about Orphan Black Season 5, let's take a look back at the highs, the lows, and the clone MVPs of Orphan Black Season 4, shall we?

Check out our picks below and leave us a comment to let us know whether you agree or disagree!

1. Most Underused Clone

Forming new alliances orphan black
Mika was shrouded in mystery. She was an enigma. She popped in and out so randomly that we didn't get a chance to know her very well. Aside from her big, soul-baring scene with Ferdinand, Mika may as well have not been in the season at all.

2. Best Clone for Comedic Relief

Controlling evolution orphan black
Krystal Goderitch may very well have unseated Alison Hendrix as the clone most likely to elicit a giggle (or several). Krystal's ditzy demeanor and grating manner of speaking were funny enough on their own, but add in her insistence that the whole Neolution intrigue was thanks to a secret war between dueling cosmetics companies and her firm denial about Sarah being her clone and she's one of the funniest characters in Orphan Black history.

3. Best Reunion

Best reunion
Who did you think I was going to choose for this? Rachel and Ferdinand? HA. There's no competition in this category. The emotional, beautiful reunion of Cosima and Delphine was amazing and perfect – a great, uplifting moment in a rather dark and foreboding finale. The chemistry between Évelyne Brochu and Tatiana Maslany was killer in this scene.

4. Best New Character

Best new character
When Adele was first introduced, we were iffy. Who was this random character whose sole purpose seemed to be a plot device to drive a wedge between Felix and Sarah? In the end, Adele ended up being a funny, warm, helpful potential ally and we were really disappointed to see her leave at Felix's request – apparently for good. She was so underused!

5. Weirdest Twist

Weirdest twist
Age gaps between couples are totally fine, of course. The "ick" factor here really has to do with the fact that, as their creator, Susan is something of a mother figure to the clones. So the reveal that Susan and Castor clone Ira were carrying on a long-running sexual relationship was just kind of... ick.

6. Best Villain / Most Evil Clone

Best villain slash most evil clone
Rachel Duncan. It's always Rachel. Evie Cho may have played a relatively brief villainous role, but Rachel's unhinged megalomania, powerhungriness, and overwhelming Mommy issues make her the perfect villain. She's just relatable enough to be realistic while still being terrifyingly sinister and dangerous. She'll only be worse once she teams up with the mysterious P. T. Westmoreland in Orphan Black Season 5.

Was that the best season yet?

Game of Thrones Season 6 started pretty slow, but got crazy good as the season went on.

We're going to run down the best and worst of the latest season of the HBO fantasy series.

1. Best Death

Best death
Arya killing Walder Frey was a highlight of the entire series. He was the man responsible for the Red Wedding, so it was thrilling to see Arya take him down once and for all. As much as the House of Black and White sucked, Arya having a face on worked wonders for this scene.

2. Most Pointless Character

Most pointless character
Why didn't Rickon zig-zag? He must have known he was about to be killed. It's not like Ramsey has bad aim.

3. Most Predictable Moment

Most predictable moment
Jon Snow is Lyanna Stark's son! This came as no surprise to many and some even hoped that they would change it up for the show. That said, the scene with the reveal was perfectly executed.

4. Most Heartbreaking Death

Most heartbreaking death
Hodor. We finally got to see what really happened all those years ago to this fantastic character, but then he was taken from us as he tried to save Bran's life. We're still not over it.

5. Best Episode

Best episode
Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 9, "Battle of the Bastards" is hands down the best episode of the entire series. The battle between Jon and Ramsey had been brewing for some time, so it was great to see it all play out. The acting, directing and the sheer scale of the battle were all first class.

6. Most Shocking Moment

Most shocking moment
Cersei taking the throne. She really knows how to work things to get results, and that's exactly what she did to ensure she got the power she so desperately wanted. It even came at the expense of her son, Tommen.

13 Reasons We Loved Outcast Season 1

$
0
0

Outcast proved itself to be one of the most riveting and creepiest shows of the summer as demonic or alien possessions (we're not sure what they are at this point) overtook the people of the small town of Rome, West Virginia.

Reverend Anderson tried his best to rid the town of the demons, but his exorcisms failed on a grand scale. The only thing that seemed to work was what Kyle did, whether it was beating the victim or just laying his hands on him, or sometimes both.

But as many as they sent packing, more seemed to arrive daily, because Kyle is apparently a beacon. What they might not have expected (and neither did we) was Amber turning out to be just like daddy.

There are still no clear answers as to why Kyle draws these things. What we do know is he's from the same place they are -- wherever that is. It's just one of many questions we hope will be answered in season two.

From Wrenn Schmidt's brilliant performance as a possessed Megan to Mildred's snarky response to Reverend Anderson, here's our list of what we thought were some of the highlights of Outcast Season 1.

1. Megan Gets Possessed

Best possession megan
Wrenn Schmidt knocked it out of the park with her performance as a newly possessed. It was fascinating to watch Megan go through a possession from beginning to end. The way she walked out of the shower, the way she wiggled her toes in the wet grass and her reactions to light and water were powerful scenes that shed light into the process of possession. Wrenn Schmidt brilliantly brought it all to life and gets our accolades for best performance of the season.

2. Reverend Anderson Punches Sidney

Reverend anderson punches sidney
Sidney has been smarmy from the minute he stepped foot in Rome. He’s especially been a thorn in Reverend Anderson’s side. When Sidney walked in while the Reverend was trying to get his job back, it was the last straw and the Reverend couldn’t help himself. As he told Giles: “It’s not everyday you get to punch the Devil in the face.”

3. Mildred is Done Playing Games

Snarkiest demon mildred
Reverend Anderson thought he had cast the demon out of Mildred, but he was wrong. After Kyle touched her and discovered she was still possessed, the Reverend visited to see for himself. Mildred was done playing games and let the Reverend know the truth in a rather amusing yet chilling way. Too bad MIldren couldn’t have stayed in Rome a bit longer.

4. Mark's Shocking Death

Marks shocking death
Even if you are a comic reader, Mark’s death was something completely unexpected. In the comics he was thrown out the window and survived. On the show Megan smashed his face into the bathroom mirror and a piece of glass got stuck in his throat. It was heartbreaking to watch him plead with Megan to help him and all she did was watch him die, fascinated with all the blood.

5. Blake Fakes Us Out

Best exorcism fakeout blake
Reverend Anderson keeps thinking he’s winning against the demons of Rome, but once again he was proved wrong. Blake was one of the scariest possessed we got to meet. He did a great job pretending to be exorcised, but in the end he let Anderson know it was all fake by laughing in his face and telling him, “Is this actually your job? Do you do kids’ parties too?” Did Blake takes lessons from Mildred?

6. Reverend Anderson's Pentagram

Reverend andersons pentagram
While Sidney was a pain the Reverend’s side, the Reverend was a pain in Sidney’s side. The Reverend was intent on casting out the evil from Rome and had no intention of leaving the possessed alone. Sidney didn’t like this and decided to warn the Reverend in the most serious way by carving a pentagram on his chest.

Mr. Robot Season 2: Best New Character, Most Predictable Reveal and More!

Before it premiered, many fans wondered how Mr. Robot Season 2 could possibly top the series' amazing first season, which was widely regarded as one of the best of 2015.

Now that the season has included with the shocking, incredible Mr. Robot Season 2 Finale, one thing is very clear: while the show didn't consistently match the highs of the first season, there was plenty to love about it. Occasionally, there were even moments and performances that were even better than Mr. Robot Season 1.

Angela was brought in on Whiterose's plan, Elliot was shot by a returned-from-the-"dead" Tyrell Wellick, and Darlene wound up squarely in the hands of the FBI after Cisco's tragic death.

We're taking a look back at the best and the worst (and the strangest) of the past 12 installments of Mr. Robot. Check out our report card, and let us know your thoughts!

1. Best Cameo Appearance

Best cameo appearance
Alf is really the only possible option for this category, but that gloriously strange and random appearance of everybody's favorite creepy '80s sitcom puppet deserves a shout-out of its very own.

2. Best New Character

Best new character
Leon wins this one by a landslide. His conversations with Elliot about Seinfeld (and the deeper, more philosophical questions that arose from his binge-watch of the '90s classic) were brilliantly surreal and added a great touch to the weaker, earlier episodes when Elliot was separated from the main action while in jail. Leon's epic takedown of the white supremacist gang that attacked Elliot was nothing short of epic. We also don't know where Leon's motivations lie – what's he doing approaching Mobley and Trenton while they're in hiding?! – that's what makes him such an interesting figure and the only new one that I NEED to see next season.

3. Worst New Character (and Worst Subplot)

Worst new character and worst subplot
This is absolutely nothing against Craig Robinson, who was great in the role. I did not care for the Ray-Elliot subplot, which ate up too much time in the earlier half of the season for my liking. It felt like a lesser version of what the show did in Season 1 with Fernando Vera (except Vera was a better, more insidious villain, and that plot was far more personal and engaging). Yes, it was useful for Elliot's character growth but not SO useful that it warranted taking up all the screentime that it did. At times, this plot even felt meandering and unfocused.

4. Most Frustrating Character

Most frustrating character
Of the three new characters, I didn't know what to make of Dom, though Grace Gummer was great in the role. Occasionally, she was awesome and badass – she is, indisputably, a great FBI agent. Other times, she felt like a weakly-characterized plot device – virtually indestructible, she walked away from not one but TWO shoot-outs with nary a scratch on her. What is she, the Terminator? We also had far too many scenes establishing her same personality traits (loneliness and an inability to connect) over and over again. I was glad to see the finale explain how she always seemed to know to push Angela, Darlene, and the others. It's not because she has some weird detecting sixth sense -- the FBI was onto all of them from the start.

5. Best Return

Best return
"Bon soir, Elliot." Tyrell technically returned (and was confirmed as alive) pretty early in the season when he called Elliot in prison, but, the show being what it is, we didn't know for sure whether he was truly alive or some sort of Elliot hallucination. Tyrell's super casual return, sliding into the cab to meet with Elliot, and the ensuing confrontation that left Elliot shot and bleeding out, was pure awesome.

6. Best Reveal

Best reveal
The reveal that Tyrell was alive – only confirmed for sure once Elliot got shot by him – was spectacular. Creator Sam Esmail dove into the Tyrell-is-an-Elliot-alter theories head-on, before shooting them down (pun intended) in one fell swoop.
